Gzhel. Triangle

Gzhel is cobalt over white, the painting laid in a brushstroke with a gradient. The panel is cut into a triangle, and the pattern breaks off at the edge.

Ornament was never decoration — it is the language once spoken by shawls, towels and window frames. The series gathers it from Pavlovo Posad roses to cross-stitch and hangs it on the wall without the object it used to live on.
