Pavlovo Posad

A Pavlovo Posad shawl is printed with wooden blocks, color by color. Here the pattern fills the whole panel, with no margin.

Ornament was never decoration — it is the language once spoken by shawls, towels and window frames. The series gathers it from Pavlovo Posad roses to cross-stitch and hangs it on the wall without the object it used to live on.
