Window Casing

The casing is a talisman — carving closed off the opening through which the unwanted could enter a house. It is taken frontally, like a survey sheet.

Ornament was never decoration — it is the language once spoken by shawls, towels and window frames. The series gathers it from Pavlovo Posad roses to cross-stitch and hangs it on the wall without the object it used to live on.
