Bouquet and Moon

The sun with a face and the crescent moon come from lubok prints, where they were drawn as living beings. The ground is black, the flowers built in relief.

Ornament was never decoration — it is the language once spoken by shawls, towels and window frames. The series gathers it from Pavlovo Posad roses to cross-stitch and hangs it on the wall without the object it used to live on.
