Blue Burst

The rays are built with brushstrokes radiating from the center, holding the composition in place of a background. The blue is laid in three densities.

The Russian church is taken apart into simple solids: rectangle, arch, onion dome, cross. Some works rest on a single blue line, others are built up in full colour and gold leaf — between them lies the whole road from sketch to building.
