The outline follows the building, the base left with drips — evidence the work was assembled upright. The gold on the domes is laid last.

The Russian church is taken apart into simple solids: rectangle, arch, onion dome, cross. Some works rest on a single blue line, others are built up in full colour and gold leaf — between them lies the whole road from sketch to building.
