Russian Temple

The image of an Orthodox temple, executed in relief with detailed hand painting, creates a sense of volume and depth. Gold leaf and hand painting accentuate the architectural elements, giving the work a solemn and significant character.

The Russian church is taken apart into simple solids: rectangle, arch, onion dome, cross. Some works rest on a single blue line, others are built up in full colour and gold leaf — between them lies the whole road from sketch to building.
