Theotokos with Child

The work is executed in a multi-layer relief technique using gold leaf. The textured surface and gilding give the image depth and expressiveness, emphasizing the monumentality of the composition. The panel harmoniously integrates into an interior, becoming its conceptual centre.

One image — Mother and Child — in dozens of states: from the Vladimir icon to a dark face in rays of gold leaf and an almost abstract mark on blue. The series rests on the face: however little of the icon is left, it still looks at you.
