Image of the Theotokos

The work from the “Orthodoxy” series offers an abstract interpretation of an iconographic image. Contrasting lines and spots imitate hand painting, creating a dynamic yet meditative accent in a contemporary interior.

One image — Mother and Child — in dozens of states: from the Vladimir icon to a dark face in rays of gold leaf and an almost abstract mark on blue. The series rests on the face: however little of the icon is left, it still looks at you.
