Dotted Serpent

Dot by dot — the way grounds are built in both Aboriginal painting and northern embroidery. The figure is left white, with no inner drawing.

The snake coils into a ring with no beginning — a sign older than any culture it appears in. Here it runs over blue, over birch bark and over a dotted field, and gold lands only on the curves.
