Boxing Match

Panel from the “Box” series made with gold leaf and resin. The detailing and the play of light and shadow create dynamism, conveying the tense atmosphere of a sporting event. The work integrates organically into interiors, adding character and depth.

The ring seen from above: the crowd runs off the edge, light gathers in the centre, the canvas is left clean like a screen. In one work the ring is framed with roses, in another a fighter lies down: here the bout has always already happened.
