The grid here is larger than the image: first the mesh is seen, then the trees. Resin levels the whole surface into one plane.

Shishkin's forest passed through a grid: every cell has its own green and its own gold, and only at a distance do they add up to trunks and the light between them. A work for a wall you walk up to and away from.
