Red Forest

The red is pushed to its limit and cast flat across the whole surface. The rectangle sits on top as a mark, without narrative.

Birch bark peels away in layers every few years, and its pattern never repeats. This series assembles it into a grid with graphite leaves and carries it through to a rhythm of verticals. Some fragments are left without pigment.
