The Pack
Essay
A cigarette pack is the most refined object of twentieth-century mass design: three colours, one typeface, a crest, and all of it has to read from the far end of the bar. Marlboro, Chesterfield, Parliament — words known to people who have never smoked. The pack has been held in the hand billions of times, and no one has ever seen it whole.
The series opens it out flat, like a pattern, and enlarges it to the size of a wall. Red, white, blue, the familiar type, worn corners, the gloss of the card — a net on which you can see how the object is made. A thing hidden in a pocket becomes a facade, and the stucco under the ceiling does not mind.
Relief on artboard — the folds and flaps of the pack modelled in volume; paint; the type set by hand; leaf gold on the crests; epoxy resin, which gives the card a lacquered gloss. The wear at the corners is deliberate. The edition is numbered.
A series for a bar, a lounge, a study, an apartment with high ceilings and a history. A pack on the wall is pop art that grew out of a pocket.

Each work is built by hand at the st.Aura studio. The object's data is recorded in the series passport and the studio registry.
Editions
Every edition is closed: once exhausted, no further numbers are issued. Number and tier are recorded in the certificate of authenticity.
